On New Years Eve 2012, I returned to Australia for good!

Over the past couple of months I have settled back in to life in Melbourne (Kew)

I started a new full time job working in the Arts/Disability field in January, but have also met with the Director of the Ararat Regional Gallery to discuss future exhibitions of my own, along with Community Arts projects.

I have also take on a voluntary role of Community Arts Manager for a festival that will take place in the Pyreees region of Victoria in February 2014.

On the 9th of March Mark, my husband arrived and is currenty trying to break in a pair of thongs!

Its great to be back!

Delighted to be publicising my next exhibition, and the Arts Complex’s media release is below

Melissa Peacock – Recent works

· 21–29 April 2012

· Preview: Friday 20 April | 18:30–21:30

Melissa Peacock is an Abstract Impressionist, working with mixed media; she also practices sculpture, working with wool and other fibres woven onto metal structures. She has exhibited extensively and is featured in private collections in Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Europe and USA; including the private collection of Sir John Mills.

“My work is a response to the weather patterns and soundwaves that I have encountered since I have lived in Scotland. In conjunction, I have recently been visually exploring my style which has developed to appear as if the mixed media surface resembles fabric, with a woven consistency”.

A gentle sense of movement flows through distinctive structures that suggest both interior and exteriors. Areas are light and dark contrast to encapsulate a sense of space. Each space has a linear stream yet has deliberate breaks that can insinuate a breeze of air.

This activity weaves within a layering process, overlapping in colourful tones that hint at seasons over periods of time. Within the structures lie depictions of weather patterns hovering over a final surface.

The work presents a collective memory of the senses that are stored within a specified visual space.
